Rocky Hill Country Day, a progressive PreK-12 private school in Rhode Island, adopted MindPrint in 2019. What began as a pilot for academic support expanded to include all 9th grade students to build effective self-management and study skills.
In 2019, Rocky Hill piloted MindPrint in its Academic Center for Enrichment to help students academically at all grade levels. After teachers saw the profiles they began requesting a MindPrint for more students, including many who weren't receiving support but were described as “puzzling”. Based on teacher feedback, administrators decided to expand the program to give MindPrint to all 9th graders believing it could help strengthen student self-awareness and self-regulation skills.
MindPrint's 10-session BOOST Yourself course is now a part of Rocky Hill's standard 9th grade programming. All students take the MindPrint assessment and use the Student Learner Profile to understand how they learn best in the context of different subjects and topics, such as homework, problem solving in math, and test taking. Based on their learner profiles, students work in groups with students who learn similarly and practice optimal study strategies for their academic work in school and at home. Teachers believe the program is helping their 9th graders to develop the self-efficacy skills needed to succeed in high school and college. Students have given consistently positive feedback about the opportunity to learn more about themselves and say the program has helped them try new study approaches they would not have otherwise considered and made them more efficient.
